  1. Read through the presentation and make detailed notes on different methods of marketing that have been used in a 2.0 world. 



2. Identify different methods of advertising used by both Sony Music and your chosen Independent label. How are they targeting their audiences? How are they engaging with their audience?

3. Identify examples of Fandom for an artist from Sony Music and your chosen Independent label.
What advantages and disadvantages can you deduce from this?

Lesson 1. Music Consumption


1. Ask your peers the following;

1. How has the way in which you obtain music changed over the years?
2. How do you find out about music that's new for you?
3. What format of music do you buy/use?
4. The hardware/technologies/devices you use to listen to music?

Feedback your responses in small groups and make a note of peer feedback. What conclusions can you draw about contemporary music consumption?



2. Research the following and make notes (stats) on contemporary music consumption - how is it changing from previous years? What impact is it having on record labels, artists and consumers? Support points you raise with key evidence from the stimulus material.
